What are the benefits of joining online psoriasis support groups?
Having a dedicated space to connect with others facing similar challenges fosters growth and learning, whether those people are physically nearby or across the globe.
During the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, I experienced my most severe psoriasis flare-up, affecting my entire body and scalp. Being unable to leave home, I turned to online resources like the National Psoriasis Foundation and Facebook support groups for guidance and community.
Sharing openly with people who truly understand your condition can be incredibly healing and empowering.
Why did you create the Sistas With Psoriasis Facebook group?
After struggling to find culturally competent dermatological care, I sought advice online but noticed a lack of representation of Black women in psoriasis groups.
Since psoriasis manifests differently on darker skin and hair requires unique care, I wanted to build a safe, supportive space specifically for women of color to share experiences and management strategies.
The Sistas With Psoriasis group is a private Facebook community ensuring members feel secure and supported.

For medically accurate information and personalized assistance, the National Psoriasis Foundation is an excellent resource, offering programs like Patient Navigation and One to One mentoring.
