Fearing imprisonment for complicity, Keeler preemptively confessed to police about her intimate ties with several influential British men but was sentenced to nine months for perjury. After her release, she sold her story to the press, igniting one of Britain’s first major sex scandals.

The scandal exposed the military minister’s affairs, his connections with a Soviet spy, and Ward’s questionable parties. Profumo resigned and devoted his life to charity. Ward was accused of pimping and subsequently committed suicide. Ivanov returned to Moscow, where his wife soon divorced him.

Investigations continued after Ward’s death, revealing even more sensitive details previously kept secret. It emerged that Ward had close ties to Prince Philip, visiting Buckingham Palace regularly to paint royal portraits and forging a friendship with the prince. Later, entrepreneur Thomas Corbally, an FBI informant, alleged rumors that Keeler was also Prince Philip’s lover.
