He added there could be "swaps and land adjustments" and that if Putin proposed a fair deal, he would inform European leaders and contact Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky first "out of respect." "I'll call him before and after the meeting," Trump said. "I may say ‘keep fighting’ or ‘we can make a deal.’"

Trump announced the Alaska summit last Friday, setting a self-imposed deadline for Russia to agree to a ceasefire or face additional US sanctions.

In response, President Zelensky warned that any agreement excluding Kyiv’s input would be "dead decisions."

Trump presents the Alaska meeting as an exploratory effort to end the conflict and reclaim occupied Ukrainian land, but Kyiv insists on being part of any deal.
