The joyous announcement was made by Zara's husband, renowned British rugby player Mike Tindall, through his podcast dedicated to the sport. At the time of the announcement, the couple had not yet revealed the baby's name, preferring to decide after birth. However, an official family spokesperson later confirmed the name.
"Zara and Mike Tindall are delighted to announce the birth of their third child, Lucas Philip Tindall," the family spokesperson stated.
Mike also shared some intimate details about the birth. He revealed that Zara's labor began the previous evening, and the delivery progressed much faster than expected, requiring quick thinking and improvisation.
"Fortunately, Zara's friend Dolly, who has been present at all three of my children's births, was there and understood that we wouldn't make it to the hospital in time. Luckily, the midwife who was scheduled to meet us at the hospital was nearby and arrived promptly. After the baby's head appeared, a second midwife also arrived," Mike recounted candidly.
It's worth noting that Zara Tindall had long hoped to become a mother of multiple children but faced the heartbreak of two miscarriages prior to Lucas's birth. This likely explains why she and Mike kept the pregnancy private until the final stages.
After enduring two miscarriages, the queen's eldest granddaughter is now preparing to embrace motherhood for the third time.
The couple married in 2011 and will celebrate their 10th anniversary on July 30. Before Lucas, they have two daughters: 7-year-old Mia Grace and 2-year-old Lena Elizabeth.
